The first step towards a good LinkedIn is to have a good resume, so check the resume section first for some advice.

More specific to LinkedIn:

  • Make sure you have a tagline that lists the skills you have in a trigger word search (e.g. “Process Improvement | System Automation”)
  • Bio has 3 sentences about you, and then quick dot points (max 5) of the key skills/achievements you have (e.g “I perform analysis to better optimise software development and internal processes” + “Certified Scrum Master”)
  • Each job should have 3 sentences about the work required, and then 1-3 dot points of achievements/skills (e.g. “Responsible for platform improvement on the main CRM” + “I saved 500k in staff hours”)

Done. Congratulations, you’ve got a search optimised LinkedIn. You’ll be fighting off recruiters (as long as you’ve got the experience to fill in above)
